1st 2022 Silver Ducat: Castle Fraeylemaborg
The Fraeylemaborg Silver Ducat is the first this year in the ongoing series “Dutch castles”. The castle is located on an estate in Slochteren in Groningen, in the middle of a large park laid out in the English landscape style. The original “borg” (meaning a castle from the province of Groningen) building was founded more than seven centuries ago as a stone house. Over the centuries it became an impressive building with influential residents. It was inhabited until 1972, when it was sold to the Gerrit van Houten Foundation. The Fraeylemaborg was then restored and opened its doors as a museum. Each coin is in a deluxe metal box with a certificate and background information.
