The 136 acre National Heritage Park at Ópusztaszer is one of the best-known museum institutions and national heritage sites in Hungary. According to Hungarian historical tradition, it was the spot where the Hungarian conquerors held their first “national assembly and lawmaking”. The Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park is a key site of Hungarian national identity, with the Árpád monument built in 1896 and the memorial column erected in 2012, as well as home to the monumental painting “Arrival of the Hungarians” by Árpád Feszty.
